Welcome Bana Bengwana Development Trust

Who we are.

Bana Bengwana Development Trust is an initiative by and for the people of  Ngwana Area in rural Plumtree- Zimbabwe and beyond. The organisation was born out of the realisation by the people of Ngwana that if there was going to be any meaningful development in Ngwana area, the vision and ideas and practical steps towards that kind of development needed to be articulated in deeds and action by these same people

Our Story

Brief HISTORY

Established in 1989,  by former students of Ngwana Primary School, the trusts runs the following programs:

Ngwana Health Centre-:  ( Building and equipping  the local Clinic and,  also running health awareness and wellbeing programs)

 – Ngwana  Dam : (boreholes, wells and water harvesting programs}

Ngwana School and education centre:  (further education, scholarships and mentoring programs}

Ngwana Youth , Women  and Senior Citizens Welfare ( This program hosts events, talks, games, get- togethers and has provided food and other resources where possible}

Ngwana Arts/Heritage and Festival ku Ngwana; ( A program that archives local history, hosts talks, dance, drumming and singing workshops and hosts the annual Festival ku Ngwana

Ngwana Business and Churches  together: ( a platform for local churches, businesses and even leaders to engage and share ideas on issues to do with development. ) 

Current Projects

Helping to get water in the Community

The trust has also helped rehabilitate the local dam that supplies water to the lives stocks of way more than 1000 homesteads by repairing the broken wall at the dam ‘s spillage site.

Clinics and Health Centre

Current focus is on the clinic/health where 6 blair toilets are already been finished and the first building fully refurbished. The local community has also moulded way more that 80 000 bricks and these bricks have seen the building of the main structure of the clinic. (see pictures)

Schools Education and Training

Over the years this community/trust has bought books, sporting equipment, benches and even helped in building a classroom block at Ngwana Primary School.
